A. About IIC Institute:

Tamralipta Institute of Management and Technology (TIMT) was established in 2007 for the noble cause of education and community development by the N.H.K. Welfare Foundation, under the leadership and guidance of Late Haji Sk. Kazem Ali. The institute is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT, WB), and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). TIMT currently offers undergraduate programs such as BCA and BBA to prepare skilled professionals in technology and management, addressing the needs of industrial development and globalization. Apart from academic endeavors, our institute also encourages students to develop social, moral, and humanistic values, contribute to local communities, and prepare themselves as future leaders of the nation.

Vision / Mission the IIC of the Institute:

» To enhance entrepreneurial skills and cognitive abilities through hands-on projects, expert talks, and innovation-focused programs.

» To foster a start-up mindset by cultivating risk-taking, resilience, and creativity through mentorship, workshops, and industry interactions.

» To integrate students and faculty in innovation-driven teaching, research, and community development.

» To establish strong linkages with industries, NGOs, hospitals, and government organizations for promoting sustainable entrepreneurship and responsible innovation..

» To prepare students as future-ready innovators and change-makers by fostering resilience, responsibility, and collaboration with communities and industries.

Journey of IIC established at the Institute:

Tamralipta Institute of Management & Technology (TIMT) established the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC: IC202428525) on its campus in accordance with the guidelines of the Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, during the academic year 2023–24.

During this period, TIMT actively engaged in a series of initiatives prescribed by the MoE’s Innovation Cell to foster innovation and entrepreneurship within the campus ecosystem. In recognition of these efforts, TIMT earned a total score of 0.18 and received a Letter of Appreciation from the MoE’s Innovation Cell for its performance during the academic year 2023–24.

Building on this foundation, the IIC at TIMT undertook a range of structured activities in the academic year 2024–25. The summary of activities is as follows:

Roles and Responsibilities of President:

The President of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the council’s effective functioning. He leads and supervises all activities of the IIC, providing oversight and direction for its operations. In close collaboration with the Convener, he ensures the smooth implementation of initiatives and programs undertaken by the council. He also provides strategic guidance to align IIC activities with the broader objectives of the institution, as well as with national priorities and global innovation standards. As part of his leadership responsibilities, he formulates agendas, monitors the performance of council members, and fosters active participation and accountability within the council. Furthermore, he maintains communication with the IIC National Coordination Team and ensures the sustained and satisfactory performance of the council at the institutional level.

• Roles and Responsibilities of Vice-President:

The Vice-President of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) supports the President in overseeing the overall functioning of the council and ensures continuity of leadership in the President’s absence. He assists in planning, coordinating, and monitoring the Institute’s IIC activities to ensure they are executed effectively and in alignment with the council’s objectives. He collaborates with the Convener and other council members to facilitate the smooth implementation of programs, workshops, and innovation-driven initiatives. He also plays an active role in motivating students and faculty to engage in entrepreneurial and innovative activities, thereby strengthening the culture of innovation within the institution. Additionally, he provides feedback, reviews progress, and contributes to decision-making processes that enhance the effectiveness and impact of the IIC.

Roles and Responsibilities of Convener:

The Convener of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) plays a central role in coordinating and executing the council’s activities under the guidance of the President and Vice-President. The Convener ensures the smooth day-to-day functioning of the IIC by organizing meetings, maintaining records, and facilitating communication among council members. The Convener is responsible for implementing the decisions taken in council meetings and for ensuring that activities are carried out in accordance with the prescribed guidelines of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. The Convener works closely with faculty coordinators, student members, and external stakeholders to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up culture within the institution. Additionally, The Convener supports the preparation and submission of reports, documentation, and progress updates on the IIC portal, thereby contributing to the accountability and transparency of the council’s initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities of NIRF Coordinator:

The NIRF Coordinator is responsible for compiling, maintaining, and submitting data related to innovation and entrepreneurship activities in line with NIRF requirements. He ensures accuracy and consistency of information by coordinating with council members and institutional departments. He monitors performance indicators, documents best practices, and aligns reports with national ranking parameters. He also supports the institute in showcasing innovation outcomes that contribute to its overall NIRF ranking.

Roles and Responsibilities of ARIIA Coordinator:

The ARIIA Coordinator oversees the documentation and reporting of all innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities as per the ARIIA framework. He ensures timely data collection, validation, and submission in alignment with prescribed guidelines. He collaborates with faculty and students to highlight best practices and innovation outcomes. He monitors institutional performance against ARIIA parameters and supports initiatives to strengthen the institute’s national ranking.

Roles and Responsibilities of Social Media Coordinator:

The Social Media Coordinator manages the digital presence of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) by promoting its activities and achievements on various online platforms. She ensures timely updates on events and programs, engages stakeholders through effective communication strategies, and aligns all digital content with institutional and national guidelines. She collaborates with council members to highlight innovative practices and strengthen the visibility and impact of the IIC.

Roles and Responsibilities of Members:

The members of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) actively participate in planning, organizing, and implementing the council’s initiatives. They contribute ideas, support innovation-driven activities, and assist in fostering a start-up and entrepreneurial culture within the institute. They collaborate with faculty, peers, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of programs and events. In addition, they uphold the objectives of the IIC by engaging in decision-making processes, promoting innovation at the grassroots level, and contributing to the overall growth and visibility of the council.

Note: The above responsibilities are also applicable to the President, Vice-President, Convener and Social Media Coordinator apart from their main responsibilities.

I. List of the Breakthrough Innovations / Technologies Developed at the institute

• Disha Airways (Business Management Software) – The project was developed by Tuhin Subhra Ghora, a student of the BCA department, for Disha Airways Enterprise. The software serves as a centralized platform to streamline and optimize package-shifting services across multiple branches in India. This innovation highlights the institute’s focus on practical, industry-oriented solutions.

• Car Rental (Bus Management Software) – The project was developed by Amit Maity, a student of the BCA department, for Chhohan Travels, a transportation service provider based in West Bengal. The software enables efficient scheduling, allocation, and monitoring of buses used for office commutes, school transportation, and other travel services, ensuring smooth operational management.

• Fire Detector Alarm – The project was developed by Krishna Poosan Manna and Debanjan Mondal, students of the BCA department. It functions by detecting flames through a flame sensor and immediately triggering a buzzer and LED alert system. The model is built using Arduino Uno, breadboard, buzzer sensor, flame sensor, LED, and a 5V DC power supply, showcasing an effective safety solution.

• Object Detection Alarm System – The project was developed by Ahana Das and Souditi Bera, students of the BCA departments. It is designed to trigger an alarm whenever a physical object is touched or disturbed, ensuring immediate detection. Such systems have wide application in security, automation, and safety, reflecting the students’ focus on practical problem-solving.

The IIC framework has nurtured an innovation-driven ecosystem that promotes creativity, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving among students and faculty.
